Home Sitting and Pet Sitting FAQ
Q Does the Pet
Sitter stay with my pet all
the time?
A Unless you specify 24 hour care, the Pet
Sitter will be able to leave the property, however during a
day/night
care assignment, your pet will not be left unattended for longer than
four hours.
Q What does the Pet
Sitter do whilst I am
away?
A
Your Pet Sitter will undertake pet care
duties as agreed during the pre-assignment
meeting. If your dog has a “toilet accident” or
your cat brings a “gift” home, the Pet Sitter will take care of
adequate disposal and cleaning in these
circumstances.
Cleaning your home does not form part of the standard pet care
agreement. Home care and garden maintenance duties are also available
at an additional cost and must be agreed prior to the assignment
commencing date.
During a full day care/24 hours assignment, the Pet Sitter will
normally take three hours break in the morning and separately three
hours in the afternoon outside your home. Your dog would be
walked outside this period.
In case of long term bookings, your Pet Sitter will collect your post,
move your bins, alternate lights and water your indoor
plants.
The pet sitter will walk/feed your dog to simulate a familiar routine
that your pet is used to.
Q What
areas do you cover?
A We cover Kettering and surrounding
villages. If you live more than 10 miles radius from Kettering
please contact us via
the online enquiry form or call us on 07793
709 984.
Q Am I insured if the Pet Sitter breaks any of my belongings?
A Four Diamond Paws is covered by Public
Liability Insurance which would protect you against an accident to your
personal property during an assignment.
Q Will the Pet Sitter share the house with my relatives?
A No, the Pet Sitter is not responsible
for the care of people, only to look after your home and
pet.
If you share the keys with a third party other than the Pet Sitter, you
will need to notify the Pet Sitter, to respect his/her privacy
during night assignments and you will need to ensure that any third
party can and will secure the house once they leave.
Four Diamond Paws will not accept responsibility for costs incurred
in waiting for maintenance contractors, unless keyholding services have
been previously agreed with the Pet Sitter.
Q Does the Pet Sitter provide the Pet Food?
A No, the pet owner is responsible for
providing the pet food/treats, cleaning materials and medicines if any
required.
Q Do you provide pet care for puppies?
A Four Diamond Paws may decline an
assignment to care for puppies that are not yet house trained.
However, the Pet Sitter will endeavour to take on puppies of any age,
subject to a pre-assessment home visit.
Q How long does a pet care assignment last for?
A An assignment can be a 20 minutes
visit to feed your cat, an hour to walk your dog or house sitting all
night.
Assignment frequency may be on a one off basis, one day, one week or one month.
The length of the assignment is to suit your needs. However, Four
Diamond Paws has made a pledge in long term bookings and/or 24 hour
care
that a dog will not be left unattended for longer than four
hours.
In case of long term cat feeding assignments, minimum requirement for
your cat would be one visit per day, two visits per day are recommended
Q What is included in cat feeding visits?
A Your Pet Sitter will feed your cat,
change the litter if your cat is housebound, providing company and play
with your cat, for a minimum of 20 minutes.
Q My dog is old and does not walk fast, will the Pet Sitter stay with my dog for the remainder of the time?
A The Pet Sitter will play and
entertain your dog for the remainder of the hour, providing company and
adequate care to suit your dog.
Q Will the Pet Sitter let my dog off the lead during a walk?
A No, for the safety of your dog
and others, your dog will remain on the lead whilst in public.
Q I have three dogs, will they be walked at once?
A Subject to the dog’s
strength and size, your dogs may be walked at the same time.
However, there may be times where your dogs may be walked separately to
ensure they are equally provided with a quality walk.
Q Will you walk my dog together with someone else’s dog?
A An assessment will be
made if dogs can be mixed together, however the pet sitter will
endeavour to walk your dog on its own.
Q What happens in an emergency?
A Your Pet Sitter
may be able to take on an urgent booking at short notice, subject
to availability.
If the emergency occurs during an assignment, you will be notified
immediately and Your Pet Sitter will take your pet to your preferred
Vet.
Your pet will not be left unattended unless the Vet has declared it is safe to do so.
Q Will the Pet Sitter administer medicine to my pet?
A Four Diamond Paws
cannot be responsible for administering medicine to pets.
The Pet Sitter is not a qualified pet Nurse or Vet. Each
case is assessed according to individual circumstances and the pet
owner accepts the risk.
Q How does the pet care process work?
A Upon contacting Four
Diamond Paws, your Pet Sitter will arrange a pre-assessment home
visit at your convenience.
Following the assessment, if you are happy to proceed, you pay a deposit to secure your booking. A week prior to the assignment start date, your Pet Sitter will return to collect keys and to collect remaining balance which is paid in full.
Your keys will be returned to you upon the assignment. However, keyholding services are available and keys are locked away when not in use.
