ANIMAL WELFARE
From 6 April 2007 (and 27 March in Wales), the Department for
Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) brought in laws to improve
the welfare of animals in the UK. These laws apply to a variety of
animals, including livestock and working animals, but importantly, also
affect how you must treat your pets. more

Animal Welfare Act 2006
"Under the Animal Welfare Act, it’s against the law to be cruel to an
animal. If you own an animal, you must ensure that its welfare
needs are met. Find out what your responsibilities are under the

IDENTIFICATION
Offense under Control of Dogs Order 1992:
"The owner of a dog or the person in charge of a dog who, without
lawful authority or excuse, proof of which shall lie on him, causes or
permits the dog to be in a highway or in a place of public resort not
wearing a collar as prescribed in article 2(1) above shall be guilty of
an offence against the Animal Health Act 1981." more
